The Conference is jointly organised by International Development in Europe Committee of the International Reading Association (IDEC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Lesen und Schreiben (German Association of Reading and Writing).

About the IDEC and the International Reading Association

The International Reading Association is a world-wide professional organisation of teachers, researchers, administrators, students, tutors, parents and others who work together to improve literacy and literacy education. The IDEC committee is a group of 30 national affiliates of the International Reading Association in Europe. IDEC works collaboratively with the International Reading Association and with other literacy groups to promote literacy in Europe. One of its main activities is the organisation of a biennial European Conference on Reading. IDEC is very pleased to work with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Lesen und Schreiben to organise the 15th European Conference on Reading. About the German Reading and Writing Association

The German Association for Reading and Writing (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Lesen und Schreiben), a national affiliate of the International Reading Association, was established in 1970.
Its main aims are:

• to stimulate and promote interest in literacy
• to sponsor conferences and workshops related to literacy development
• to disseminate knowledge helpful to the solution of literacy problems
